About Us
The Centre for Military and Veterans’ Health is the first organisation of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, dedicated specifically to understanding and addressing the health needs of Australian Defence Force members during and after their service through:
- Research ... exploring new possibilities
- Professional Development ... creating new possibilities
- Think Tank ... inspiring and informing discussion
CMVH is a collaboration of The University of Queensland, the University of Adelaide and Charles Darwin University. The locations of these academic centres correspond with the key population areas of ADF personnel across Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
The Department of Defence and the Department of Veterans' Affairs sponsor CMVH and guide its strategic direction through membership on its Board.

CMVH aspires to being pre-eminent in the field of military and veterans’ health by leading development and promotion of innovative solutions to improve health, wellbeing and human performance and achieve best practice in health service delivery for the military and veteran communities, in collaboration with the wider community, through:
- Research;
- Lifelong learning programs; and
- Public Debate.
