Student Testimonials
SGT Elizabeth Smith - MPH(Defence) student
Studying externally in the Master of Public Health (Defence) program at UQ through CMVH has provided me with a greater understanding of complex environments from a health perspective. It has allowed me to understand research methodology, interpret data and critically analyse research findings. I have found many study modules beneficial as they have been designed to allow me to apply ideas in my job.
Tracy Smart - Officer Commanding, Health Services Wing, Royal Australian Air Force.
In my role I am in charge of all Air Force operational health. The MPH (Defence) program has helped me consolidate a lot of knowledge about defence health but also opened up my thinking about health systems outside the military. The skills I have learned can be directly applied to my ongoing career in the Royal Australian Air Force in a variety of ways, including in the areas of health management, disaster response, occupational medicine and e-Health. In particular, one of the assignments I completed for "Health Systems Management Course" was subsequently adapted for presentation to the Chief of Air Force and resulted in major systemic changes within Air Force Health Services.
Rae-Wen Chang - General practitioner, Emirates Airlines, Dubai
As a full-time general practitioner it is easy to focus on day-to-day clinical work and making differences within a community. I have found studying for the Master of Public Health (Defence) allows an insight into the political and economic landscapes that influence how each of us gives and receives health care. It is empowering to understand and use the skills learned to influence a wider population.
