The Military Health Outcomes Program (MilHOP) is a program of studies looking at the health and wellbeing of Serving and ex-Serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. It has been developed jointly by the Centre for Military and Veterans' Health (CMVH) at the Universities of Adelaide and Queensland and Defence.

The program seeks to better understand the types of health problems and related symprtoms that are relevant to ADF members to assist Defence in addressing these health problems in the future. It builds on the recent Health Studies concerning the Near North Area of Influence, namely the Solomon Islands, Bougainville, and East Timor Health Studies.

MilHOP includes the following studies:

Health and Wellbeing Survey - The Health and Wellbeing Survey study is looking at the health and wellbeing of currently serving ADF personnel who have not deployed to the MEAO, and is being conducted jointly by the University of Adelaide node of CMVH and Defence. You may also be invited to complete a confidential telephone interview about your health and wellbeing. We want to hear from a wide range of personnel across the ADF. Anyone who completes the MilHOP surveys could be invited to participate in an interview.

MEAO Health Study - The Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) Health Study is looking at the health of ADF personnel who deployed to the MEAO between 2001 and 2009. The study is being conducted by the University of Queensland node of CMVH.

MEAO Prospective Health Study - The Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) Prospective Health Study is investigating changes in health outcomes by assessing ADF personnel before and after deploying to the MEAO in 2010 and 2011. This study is being conducted by the University of Adelaide node of CMVH.

CMVH is an independent organisation that sits outside of Defence and therefore, all participants can be assured of complete confidentiality. No information about specific individuals will be made available to anyone within the Defence system or elsewhere without his or her specific consent. Only summarised results of data gathered will be passed on to Defence and published in scientific literature.
